Benign epidermal tumour - also called basal cell papillomas
Aetiology
- Benign proliferation of epidermal keratinocytes
- Very common in ageing skin
- Eruptive appearance of many lesions may indicate internal malignancy - Leser-Trelat sign
Clinical presentation
- Very well demarcated, raised, usually brown coloured lesion
- Stuck on appearance - greasy hyperkeratotic surface
- Typical surface appearance - small cysts/depressions/warty
Management
- Reassurance, most need no treatment
- If patient would like removal - cryotherapy, curettage
