Submucosal lakes of blood, usually right side of colon

Aetiology

  • Small vascular malformation, can be congenital or acquired (mostly related to aging)

Clinical presentation

  • Obscure cause of otherwise unexplained rectal bleeding

Investigations

  • Angiography
  • Colonoscopy

Management

  • Embolisation
  • Endoscopic ablation
  • Surgical resection
