Monoclonal Gammopathy of Undetermined Significance (MGUS)

Paraprotein <30 g/l, bone marrow plasma cells <10%, and with no evidence of myeloma end organ damage

Pathophysiology

  • Describes an isolated finding of a monoclonal paraprotein in the serum or urine that does not fulfil the diagnostic criteria for smouldering or symptomatic myeloma

Complications

  • Risk of progression to myeloma ~1% per year
